The Petals Project

The Petals Project

Gender – Based Violence

Education, Advocacy, & Support.

The Petals Project is a transformative initiative aimed at addressing the pervasive issue of Gender- Based Violence (GBV) through a multifaceted approach that combines education, advocacy, and support. By engaging with secondary schools and community settings, the project works to empower young people and create a ripple effect of change, fostering safer and more inclusive communities across Botswana.

The Petals Project was conceived as a proactive response to the high prevalence of GBV in Botswana. Recognizing the critical need to address this issue at its roots, the project targets young people in secondary schools and extends its reach to communities. By focusing on early education and community involvement, the program aims to challenge harmful gender norms, foster mutual respect, and equip individuals with the knowledge and tools to identify, prevent, and address GBV.

Through a combination of structured school curriculums, peer-led initiatives, and intergenerational dialogue, the project seeks to create a holistic and sustainable approach to tackling GBV, ensuring that youth and communities alike are empowered to take action.
